2004
In March, el Río Reyes Trust was awarded the Toms
of Maine National Rivers Awareness Grant for $5,000 to establish
a low water crossing on Wahtoke Creek. This Crossing will
be a new link to an existing trail. Project partners are Reedley
Junior College Forestry Department, California Fish and Game
and el Río Reyes Trust.

a generous donation from Toms of Maine.
2003
Last year, el Río Reyes Trust received technical
assistance from the National Park Service, Rivers, Trails
and Conservation Program (RTCA). Through this partnership,
the trust was awarded a grant to co-sponsor a workshop in
the nationally acclaimed Your Town: Designing
its Future workshop series developed by the
National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) as a leadership initiative
to respond to the design needs of small towns and rural
areas. The workshop took place in June 2003 and was titled
Your Town: Designing its Future, The Kings
River Region: Navigating the Currents of Change.
Sponsors were, el Río Reyes Trust, the National Park
Service RTCA and the City of Reedley. Co-sponsors were the
National Endowment for the Arts, the National Trust for
Historic Preservation, and the State University of New York
at Syracuse. El Río Reyes Trust was honored to participate
in this workshop series. Its workshop was one of only four
presented in the United States in 2003 and the first ever
in California.

2000-2001
In 2000 and 2001, the Trust brought together property owners
and agencies with two forums titled, Upon a
Delicate Treasure and Vision for
the Kings River, to get acquainted and discus
the Kings Rivers future.

2002
A mapping project of
the Kings River from Pine Flat Dam to Highway 99 (approximately
36 miles) was started in 2002 and is nearing completion.

2002
El Río Reyes Trust erected a monument marking the
site of Pooles Ferry,
an important crossing of the Kings River on the Stockton
Los Angeles Road, located about two miles north of
Reedley, California.
